Pietschacher Almhütte am Hochrindl

Comfortable alpine hut with sauna in the Biosphärenpark Nockberge · up to 8 people · bookable all year round

📍 Austria · Kärnten · Sirnitz / Albeck · Biosphärenpark Nockberge · 🏔️ 1,700 m above sea level · 📐 100 m² living space · 🛏️ 4 bedrooms

There are huts you have to earn. And there is the Pietschacher Almhütte am Hochrindl, where you simply get out, open the door and are already at home. 1,700 metres above sea level, in the middle of the Biosphärenpark Nockberge in Kärnten, with a view of gentle alpine ridges and Swiss stone pine forests (Zirbenwälder) that have stood in exactly that spot for hundreds of years. The alpine hut itself is 100 years old – built in 1922, lovingly renovated in 2007 – and that is exactly what you feel. Creaking wooden floorboards, warm scent of Swiss stone pine (Zirbe), walls that tell stories.

Comfortable alpine hut for families and small groups

Spread over two floors are 100 square metres of pure alpine feeling: four bedrooms for up to eight people, all panelled in Swiss stone pine (Zirbenholz), one with a four-poster bed. Two modern bathrooms and a separate WC, a rustic kitchen-living room with a wood-burning and an electric stove, a private Finnish sauna with an infrared and a steam variant. WiFi and satellite TV are there if you need them – but probably you won't. From the balcony and the large sun terrace you look out over the Nockberge to the horizon.

Ski-in / ski-out in the Hochrindl ski area – hiking right outside the door

What is special is what lies outside the door: in winter you step straight out of the front door onto the ski slope – real ski-in / ski-out in the family-friendly Hochrindl ski area. In summer, hiking trails through herb meadows start right at the house, over to the Herzl-Hütte, to the Hiasl Zirbenhütte and up the Speikkofel. Josef from the Pietschacherhof, your hosts, come by now and then and bring farm products on request – milk, cheese, Speck, sausage, fresh meat. Just call briefly, say what you need, and at the next visit to the farm it is there.

Alpine hut holiday all year round

The alpine hut can be booked all year round. In spring, when the first crocuses bloom through the remaining snow. In summer, when 19 hectares of alpine meadow around the hut become a world of their own and the cattle stand in the pasture. In autumn, when the larches burn golden and the mushroom season begins. In winter, when 20 kilometres of pistes and 20 kilometres of cross-country trails lie right outside the door and the sauna waits in the evening. Four seasons, one alpine hut – and in each one it is a different promise.

A hut for the family. A meeting place for friends. A retreat for everyone looking for real alpine life in Kärnten.

Up here, time belongs to you. And the panorama. And the scent of Swiss stone pine anyway.

Where the Nockberge become a home for a while.
