Good to know

What you should know before booking for Christmas

01 · Period

Usually five to seven nights

Over the holidays almost all hosts rent by the week, often with a fixed arrival day around 21 or 22 December. Single nights are rare over Christmas.

02 · Christmas tree

Not everywhere is one already up

Some hosts put up a tree, others do not. Ask beforehand – and bring decorations if you have precise ideas. Real candles are often not permitted in a wooden hut.

03 · Arrival

The car does not go up to the door everywhere

At some huts the car stays in the valley and the host collects you with a tractor or piste basher. This is stated with each hut – winter tyres and a little time are still part of it.

04 · Supplies

On the 24th the shops close at midday

Plan the big shop for the 23rd. On the 25th and 26th almost nothing is open. Ask the host what is already at the hut – there are often eggs, milk and bread from the farm next door.

Frequently asked

Christmas at the hut – short and honest

When should you book a hut for Christmas?

As early as possible. Demand picks up from October, and in December usually only what is left over remains. We will tell you honestly what is still available.

What is the minimum stay over Christmas?

Usually five to seven nights with a fixed arrival day around 21 or 22 December. The exact minimum stay is stated with each hut.

Is there a Christmas tree at the hut?

At some yes, at others no. Ask before booking – we will clarify it for you. If you have precise ideas, bring decorations yourself. Real candles are often not permitted in a wooden hut.

Can you reach the hut by car in winter?

At most of them yes, at some not right up to the door. In that case there is a car park in the valley and the host collects you. This is stated with each hut.

Can the dog come along over the holidays?

At many of our huts yes, often with an upper limit on the number of dogs. With each hut it is stated whether and how many are permitted.

What does a hut cost over Christmas?

That depends on the hut, its size and the region. You can see the price for your period directly at the hut – without an enquiry and without a surcharge compared with the host.
