Alpenrehblick, Karwendel
A hut with a sauna for families and groups of friends, quietly placed above the Inn valley.
See the hutCold feet, wet jacket, and then twenty minutes on a wooden bench at 85 degrees: that is the moment a day outside turns into a good evening. Five of our huts have their own sauna or sauna barrel – in Tyrol, Carinthia and the Salzburger Land, for two to eight people. The sauna is yours alone, because the whole hut is.
From a small hut for two to an alpine hut for eight – each with its own sauna.

420 years old, standing alone on the slope – with a sauna barrel and a hot tub outside.
See the hutNobody hands you a towel here. The sauna belongs to the house, you heat it yourself, and you decide when. That is the difference to a hotel – and the reason people book it.
Heating takes time. A wood-fired sauna barrel needs about an hour before it is ready. Light it when you get back from your walk, not when you want to get in.
Bring towels for the sauna. Bed linen and bathroom towels are provided at every hut; a large towel to sit on is worth packing.
Cooling down is the point. All five huts stand on their own, which means you can step outside afterwards without anyone watching. In winter that is snow, in summer a meadow.
The Alpenrehblick above Vomp takes up to seven people and has the cross-country trail three minutes away – sauna after skiing, without getting into the car. The Kochhäusl in the Tux Alps is the small version: two to four people, a private sauna, and reachable by train. More on the region: Tyrol.
For up to eight people the Pietschacher Almhütte on the Hochrindl is the one: four Swiss pine bedrooms, a Finnish sauna, and in winter the piste starts at the house. In the Salzburger Land, the Oberbrixen Hütte and the Berghütte Artlieb each take six and each have a sauna barrel and a hot tub.
We have sat in every one of these saunas. We know which one heats quickly, which one seats four rather than two, and where the cold-water tap is. Ask us – we answer from our own experience.
Two: the Alpenrehblick above Vomp in the Karwendel, for up to seven people, and the Kochhäusl in the Tux Alps for two to four. Both have a private sauna and both stand on their own.
Yes. The Pietschacher Almhütte on the Hochrindl in Carinthia sleeps up to eight and has a Finnish sauna. For up to six there are the Oberbrixen Hütte and the Berghütte Artlieb, both with a sauna barrel and a hot tub.
A wooden barrel standing outdoors with a sauna inside – usually heated with wood, seating two to four people. You sweat inside and step straight out into the snow or the meadow. Both huts in Bischofshofen have one.
Yes. You rent the whole hut, so the sauna belongs to you and your group alone for the length of your stay. We never let a hut to two parties at the same time.
The Oberbrixen Hütte and the Berghütte Artlieb have a hot tub next to the sauna barrel, and the Tiroler Hütte in the Karwendel has a private whirlpool for two. More on that: Hut with a hot tub
At all the huts on this page, usually for a small fee per night. The Alpenrehblick even has a fenced dog garden.
