Holidays by theme: how to find your hut
Some people know exactly where they want to go. Most only know at first how the holiday should feel: time as a couple again at last, a summer outdoors with the children, mountain air instead of city heat – or simply peace and quiet that you can’t buy anywhere. That is exactly what our holiday themes are for. Each theme is a hand-picked selection from our huts, chalets and holiday homes in Austria – put together according to what really counts for that holiday.
Personally checked instead of endless scrolling
We stand behind every recommendation ourselves: Pauline, Julia and Daniel. We visited every hut before it ended up here – and we only assign it to the themes it honestly fits. For us, a hut is only “perfect with a dog” when the dog is truly welcome there, and only something for families when children have space to romp around. That keeps every theme page short, honest and useful.
When is the best time for a hut?
Honestly: there is no wrong one. In summer, alpine meadows, mountain lakes and long evenings in front of the hut beckon – and if you want to escape the city heat, in the mountains you can sleep with the window open even in July. Autumn belongs to those seeking quiet: clear air, empty trails and the first evenings by the stove. In winter, many of our huts turn into ski and sledding huts with snow right outside the door. And spring is the insider tip for everyone who likes to have the mountains to themselves – from Vorarlberg to Lower Austria.
Deciding at short notice? That works too.
Not every holiday is planned long in advance. If longing for the mountains grabs you spontaneously, take a look at Last-minute availability: there you can see which huts still have free periods in the next 30 days. The most beautiful breaks are often the ones you didn’t plan for long.
