Our apartments lie in the Kleinwalsertal, by the Karwendel, at the Riedhof farm in the Alpbachtal and in the Tuxer Alps. Many belong to farms that are still worked, and in several the dog is welcome. For 2 to 6 people, and we have looked at every single one ourselves.

What you get
A holiday apartment in the Austrian mountains – what one means with us
With us you find a small selection rather than a database with a thousand entries: apartments we have stood in ourselves – rustic at a farm or comfortable in the village, each with a fully equipped kitchen. Four things ours have in common.
For two people and for the whole group
The smallest are the Troadkammer and the Roggnkammer at the Riedhof: 20 m², one room, space for two – just right for couples who want a short journey and little fuss. At the other end are the Walser lodges in the Kleinwalsertal with three rooms and room enough for six, and the Alpenfamilienglück by the Karwendel with 100 m² and three rooms for five. The right place for families with children and for larger groups.
An apartment at a farm, an apartment in the village
Many of ours belong to Tyrolean farms that are still worked: the organic Riedhof farm in the Alpbachtal, the Pferdeheimat and the Waldsicht in Gnadenwald. The lodges in the Kleinwalsertal, by contrast, sit at around 1,100 metres in a ski area with a proper village centre, cable cars and the Walser bus included – alpine, but with comfort. Both are a mountain holiday, just with a different rhythm to the day.
Holiday apartment or holiday house?
In an apartment you share the building but not the apartment – and in return the hosts and the village are usually a little closer, and often a farm comes with it. With a holiday house the whole house is yours: several rooms, its own roof, nobody behind the wall. If you need a holiday house in the mountains for six to twelve people, you will find it among our houses. We say with each place which it is.
Access, train and winter – described honestly
With every apartment it says how you get there: by car right to the door, by train and bus as far as the valley – many of our places you can reach without a car, and in the Kleinwalsertal the Walser bus stops right outside the lodge. We have driven every access road ourselves and tell you before you book what to expect on a snowy road, and how close the groomed pistes and cross-country tracks are.

A holiday apartment in the mountains – four areas in the Alps
Our apartments lie in two federal states and four areas of the Austrian Alps – a destination for anyone who wants mountains, short distances and quiet between alpine meadows and clear lakes. In the SalzburgerLand and in Carinthia we arrange huts and holiday houses rather than apartments, and in East Tyrol an alpine hut at the edge of the Hohe Tauern. Most people choose between two kinds of setting: closer to the village, or further out. The mountains are outside the door either way, along with the air that comes with them.

Behind Riezlern, ringed by the mountains they are named after: 70 to 80 m² for four to six people, with a mountain view, a playground and cable cars included. The Panorama Lodge Ifen is a loft apartment for four with a wide view, the others take up to six – the ski area and the walking trails start at the Walser bus.

On the sunny terrace of Gnadenwald, below the walls of the Karwendel, three apartments sit at farms that are still worked – horses, a forest playground and a cross-country track outside the door. Down in the valley in Fritzens the Sonnseitn joins them, with a station in the village. Innsbruck is half an hour away.

At the organic Riedhof farm in Breitenbach am Inn, the old granaries – Troadkammer and Roggnkammer in Tyrolean – have become two studios for two people each. The Zuahaus, the small second house beside the farmhouse, has 56 m² and room for five. The Inn cycle path, bathing lakes and the Kitzbühel Alps are on the doorstep.

On the sunny side above the Inn valley, on the Kolsassberg, the Sternenhimmel looks across at the Karwendel: 35 m² over two levels for up to five people, with a balcony, quiet, with walks from the door – and the dog may come. From here you are quickly in the Tuxer Alps and in the Zillertal.

Holiday apartment or holiday house – which suits us?
In an apartment you share the building but not the apartment, and the hosts and the village are closer. With a holiday house in the mountains the whole house is yours – for six to twelve people, with its own roof.

What is a Zuahaus?
That is what Tyroleans call the small second house beside the farmhouse. At the Riedhof in Breitenbach am Inn we let one of them as a holiday apartment for five people.

The big portals show many apartments and many places with anonymous reviews. We show a few that we know ourselves: our own impression is written with each place, along with the reviews of our guests. All apartments are bookable all year, and many you can reach by train and bus.
What does a holiday apartment in Austria cost?
The prices are shown at each apartment and depend on the season, the number of people and the length of your stay; the final cleaning and the local tax come on top depending on the house.
