Safely into the mountains – relaxed, well plannable, together

A valuable holiday is not measured in flight hours. In the morning you set off from the accommodation, at midday you sit by the lake and in the evening you eat together on the terrace. Hiking, cycling, swimming or simply having nothing planned for once – here you decide what the day brings.

Safely into the mountains here means above all: uncomplicated. Easily reachable huts and holiday homes in Austria, short distances instead of a long journey, plannable days instead of summit stress – so the holiday begins relaxed from the start. How to really plan a mountain tour safely is shown in our guide »Safe in the mountains«.

More than far away

You don’t have to go far to be far from everyday life

The value of a holiday does not come from distance. It comes where time, nature and shared experiences fit together – and that often begins just a few hours by car or one train ride away.

The mountain holiday magazine

Rest and movement don’t have to be opposites

The magazine whets your appetite for the holiday. The concrete preparation then follows in the guide – with common sense instead of a raised finger.

Hiking

Not every path has to lead to a summit

A round to the alpine pasture, a forest path with children or a long mountain day: you choose what suits fitness, weather and mood today.

Mountain & swimming lakes

Water that comes with the mountains included

A small tour in the morning, swimming in the afternoon. Or simply staying by the water all day. Both are a good holiday day.

Swim safely
Cycling

Out on the bike instead of on in the car

Leisurely along the valley cycle path, to the farm shop or by bike towards the alpine pasture. The route just has to suit you.

Cycle safely
Time together

At dinner everyone talks about the same day

Nobody has to be entertained all the time. A path, a lake and cooking together give families and friends enough material for a good day.

Holidays for your group
Arriving at yourself

When it gets quieter outside, it often gets quieter in your head too

No daily change of place. A book, a bench, a path and finally a conversation that isn’t interrupted after three minutes.

Into the mountains alone
Well plannable instead of risk-free

The mountains give freedom. Good preparation makes them enjoyable.

We don’t claim that hiking, cycling or swimming are without risk. We help you choose an accommodation and activities that suit you, your experience and your pace.

Turning back also counts as a good decision. The summit stays. The lake stays. And the next holiday day comes too.

Who are you travelling with?

The mountain holiday is allowed to suit you – not the other way round

Every travel group needs a different accommodation and a different pace. This takes you to the matching holiday themes.

Frequently asked

Safely into the mountains – briefly answered

Is a holiday in the mountains completely without danger?

No. Hiking, cycling and swimming need attention and suitable preparation. But many holiday days can be planned well, calmly and in line with your own ability.

Do we have to be especially sporty for it?

No. There are walking paths, easy cycling routes, swimming lakes and accommodations where nature begins right outside the door. Not every mountain holiday needs a summit.

Are mountain holidays suitable for families?

Yes, if accommodation and activities suit the children’s age. Short destinations, breaks and a plan B are often more important than as many metres of altitude as possible.

Is this holiday worth more than a long journey?

Distance does not determine value. Shared experiences, peace, exercise and a place where you feel at home can begin much closer.

Is a holiday in the mountains safer than a city trip?

That cannot be compared across the board. A mountain holiday can be manageable and self-determined. Safety always comes from suitable planning and sensible decisions.

What do we do in bad weather?

Change the tour, make a small excursion, cook, play or take a rest day. A holiday doesn’t lose its value just because one day goes differently than planned.

You want to go to the mountains, but aren’t sure yet about accommodation and options?

Tell us who you are travelling with and what you like doing. We look for a starting point that suits your holiday.
