Berghütte Artlieb in Bischofshofen

Are you looking for a rustic hut with atmosphere and history that is cosy and also offers comfort and wellness? The Artliebhütte near Bischofshofen is over 420 years old – and still feels like today. Lovingly restored by hand by Anita and Rupert – your hosts.

You arrive at the hut and already have wonderful views of the mountains and the area. You breathe in the fresh mountain air and feel that your Hüttenglück is no longer far away. What took four centuries to become what it is has since had a sauna barrel in the garden and a hot pot on the terrace. Up here it quickly becomes quiet in your head.

Restored by hand – a year of work, mostly done themselves

When Anita and Rupert took over the farm in 2020, the Artliebhütte was in need of renovation. Instead of hiring tradespeople, they lent a hand themselves – wall by wall, beam by beam, until everything was finished in May 2021 . What you see today is 420 years of timber history, carefully brought into the present: old walls, old beams, new bathrooms, new warmth. Rustic charm meets modern comfort.

Your home for a while

On 120 m² you will find everything you need – and a little more. Plenty of wood, a cosy corner bench, a large dining table and the Swedish stove, in front of which the evening simply does not want to end. Cooking is done on the wood-burning range or the electric stove – just as you like. A dishwasher, fully automatic coffee machine, blender and WiFi are of course included.

Four bedrooms offer space for up to 6 people. The bathroom with underfloor heating completes the feel-good package. Small children? A high chair is ready, further children's equipment gladly on request.

Outside, the world is yours

After a day of hiking or skiing: into the sauna barrel for your sole use - in the middle of the mountains - or out into the hot pot, and then listen into the silence with a glass of wine. The large terrace with barbecue and garden furniture invites you to linger, the open plot passes over into the meadows. You charge your e-car right at the hut – three-phase power and free parking spaces are waiting for you.

The farm – actively worked

Up to two dogs are warmly welcome, and there is life at the neighbouring farm of Anita and Rupert. Here there is active farming: cows stand in the barn, chickens run across the yard, farm cats lie in the sun. Whoever feels like it goes over, watches the stable work or lends a hand. For children the farm is a small adventure, for adults a piece of real mountain-country life – not a petting farm, but everyday life.

Summer & winter – always the right thing

In summer , over 100 hiking routes await, 160 km of signposted mountain bike trails, 25 summer mountain railways, the Bischofshofen open-air pool, the Liechtensteinklamm and the Eisriesenwelt Werfen. In winter you reach the Mühlbach–Hochkönig ski area with 120 km of pistes and 33 lifts in only 13 km. Further Ski amadéareas such as St. Johann im Pongau, Dienten and Maria Alm are a short drive away. Bischofshofen itself – annual venue of the Vierschanzentournee – is 8 km away.
