Honigbrot mit Berghonig
Beekeeping has a long tradition in the mountain valleys. Families often tend their hives for generations, sometimes at the forest edge, sometimes on the Alm. Depending on where the bees fly, you get fine blossom honey from the Alm meadows or robust forest honey from the honeydew of the conifers. Mountain honey tastes special because the variety of flowers in the mountains is great and the bees still find untouched nature here.
What you need
Ingredients for 2 people:
- 2 thick slices of fresh Bauernbrot
- good butter
- Mountain or forest honey from the beekeeper
- as you like: Topfen (curd cheese) and a pinch of cinnamon
How it's done
- Cut the Bauernbrot into thick slices.
- Spread the slices generously with butter.
- Drizzle the honey over them and let it soak nicely into the bread.
- If you like, refine your Honigbrot with a spoonful of Topfen and a pinch of cinnamon.
